The client purchased two (2) wheelchair ramps and wanted them to be installed in their building. Unfortunately, when the client purchased the ramps, they did not realize that the ramps needed some sort of support structure to be mounted on. Properly planned and designed these wheelchair ramps support structures were installed in an existing thirty plus (30+) years old wooden structure building. One of the greatest challenges encountered during this project was how to install one of the wheelchair ramp with fourteen feet (14ft) difference in elevation and with nothing to support the ramp mounts. One of my first independent structural engineering projects that was completed here at Villeneuve Engineering Services that I am extremely proud of.
